About Kitsap Family Counseling

Welcome — I'm so glad you're here. Kitsap Family Counseling is my private practice, tucked away on a quiet 20-acre property in Port Orchard. I chose this setting intentionally: therapy asks us to slow down and turn toward what we usually rush past, and there's something about the stillness of these woods that makes that kind of slowing down feel possible. Many clients tell me the drive out here already feels like an exhale.

My Approach

I'm Jene, and at the heart of my work is a simple belief: we are wired for connection, and most of our pain — whether it shows up as anxiety, conflict, distance, or disconnection from ourselves — makes sense once we understand the bonds and cycles that shape it. I work from an attachment-based, emotionally focused lens, which means I'm less interested in labeling what's "wrong" with you and much more interested in understanding what you're longing for underneath the struggle.

In our work together, I pay close attention to:

  • Your Story: How past experiences and early relationships shaped the way you connect, protect yourself, and seek closeness today.

  • Your Relational World: The relationships, identities, and social context that shape your emotional life — and how those bonds can become places of both wounding and healing.

  • What Your Body Knows: The felt sense underneath the words — the tightness, the shutdown, the ache — because our emotions and attachment needs often speak through the body before they speak through language.

  • What's Around You: How your environment and daily rhythms either support or strain your sense of safety and connection.

  • Being Truly Present: Slowing down enough, together, to notice what's happening in the moment — because that's where real change and reconnection happen.

I hold all of this with warmth, curiosity, and zero judgment. My hope is that therapy with me feels less like being analyzed and more like finally being understood — and that from that understanding, you and the people you love can build a more secure, resilient bond.

My Mission

I believe healing happens in connection — with yourself, and with the people who matter to you. My mission is to help you understand the emotional patterns and attachment needs driving your struggles, so you can move from disconnection to closeness, from reactivity to understanding, and from old wounds toward a felt sense of safety and belonging. As your therapist, I will bring warmth, ease, care, and curiosity to our relationship.

My Location

This 20-acre property in Port Orchard isn't just a backdrop — it's part of the work. Nature has a way of helping us come back into our bodies and into the present moment, which is often where the most meaningful therapeutic shifts happen. I invite you to experience this space for yourself.
